BKBXWest: "Small Talk" Industry Event
Broken Box Mime Theater is back in Colorado with a special industry event hosted by the Arvada Center! SMALL TALK will feature a dynamic setlist of Broken Box repertoire performed by company members Leah Leonard (CO), Matt Zambrano (CO), Becky Baumwoll (NYC), and Regan Sims (NYC). The showing will interweave narration about the art-making process, mixing performance with an “open studio” feel. Designed to both introduce the company to new faces and strengthen existing partnerships in the area, SMALL TALK will be followed by an informal reception at a nearby cafe. Join us!
This event has an informal setting with no tickets required.
"Small Talk" at the MAT
Colorado, here we come! This is BKBX’s debut at the Millibo Art Theatre.
Join the artists of Broken Box Mime for a special evening of performance and process! In SMALL TALK, the cast will present several of their favorite nonverbal narratives, skipping across genres and celebrating the limitless possibilities of physical storytelling. The show will interweave spoken descriptions of how the art was made, offering audiences a look behind the curtain - or beyond the box, as it were. Welcome to mime, redefined!
Tickets via the MAT website.

BKBX at wild project - Encore Show
Broken Box Mime Theater (BKBX) is thrilled to return to wild project with an encore of our recent performance at PhysFestNYC, the inaugural physical theater festival they co-produced at Stella Adler Center for the Arts from January 5 - 14.
This two-night encore is a best-of collection of original shorts told entirely through movement. Set to rich lighting by Yang Yu and a heart-thumping soundtrack by Jack McGuire, the ten narratives range from a sweeping sci-fi epic to an absurdist first date, touching on themes of climate change, pop fandom, grief, and more. Come catch NYC’s favorite silent storytellers, and experience their take on “mime, redefined.”
Stick around after the show for an informal chat with the cast and a drink at the lobby bar!
Cast: Becky Baumwoll, Julia Cavagna, Duane Cooper, David Jenkins, Blake Habermann, Marissa Molnar, Jae Woo
Stage Manager: Esti Bernstein
Run time: 70 minutes

The Black & White Ball
Get out your dancing shoes, we’re back with our favorite party of the year at Roulette!
BKBX is cooking up some special new twists to this year’s party, but it will of course follow in all of our favorite traditions: A BKBX performance, a celebration of community, a photo booth to capture your black & white best, BKBX Honors, an introvert table, and general merriment, reflection, and dancing at the end of a meaningful year. The Ball is a massive fundraising effort for BKBX, and the donations made at this party ensure that BKBX can keep rocking and rolling into 2024.

A bkbx Frankenstein at Kennesaw State University
BKBX in Atlanta, GA! A retelling of Frankenstein like you’ve never seen it before. A BKBX Frankenstein remixes and riffs on the themes found in Mary Shelley’s Gothic horror classic: technology, creation, and modern monsters. The show’s centerpiece is an ode to sci-fi cinema, Starship Excelsior, which brings a new space opera twist to that famous moment when creator and creation meet for the first time. Even without the words “it’s alive,” audiences will leave buzzing with new ideas about the dangers of creation, hubris, and what is out of our control.
