BKBX Education

Broken Box Education, a division of Broken Box Mime Theater, provides experiences that connect thought, body, and feeling to increase communication, confidence, and positive relationships. Our work centers movement-based storytelling, joy, accessibility, reflection, resilience, and the practice of empathy.

  • ON LANGUAGE

A shared vocabulary is one of our learning outcomes, yet most of our source videos and many of our games will be nonverbal. Balancing nonverbal and verbal engagements will provide opportunity for a more physically-engaged experience, improve focus, and activate the senses.

  • ON ACCESS

BKBXEd works to center access by employing Universal Design for Learning in our curricula e.g. offering various video speeds, nonverbal options, captioning and/or interpreting considerations, defining of terms, etc. From here, our project partners help us to tailor the resources to the specific needs of their students.

  • ON SOCIAL JUSTICE

Empathy + Self Awareness → Good social justice work. The skills built in these SEL lessons will provide the building blocks for crafting a more just society. Ask BKBXEd about curricula around specific social justice issues, e.g. BLM, protest, etc.
