The Essential Best-of Comedies
From NYC’s Freshest Mimes
Over the last eight years, BKBX has collected a vibrant repertoire of over 140 original short plays. In 2018 we compiled a set of our favorite funnies for an all-comedy pop-up, QUIET RIOT, which are thrilled to tour to the Minnesota Fringe this summer!
Coming to Minnesota Family Fringe…
Our delightful children’s show, DESTINATION: EVERYWHERE, was chosen as one of 10 family shows to kick off the festival in “Family Fringe.” Help us bring some of our most heartwarming and giggle-inducing work to a brand new community!
We are proud to be compensating our artists with competitive performance fees, and your donations will pay for: flights, postcards, festival fees, and food for our traveling artists.
An All-New Collection of Original Shorts
Broken Box Mime Theater (BKBX) activates their unique reinvention of throwback French pantomime to present a 90-minute collection of all-new stories that riff on the many layers of Skin: color, consent, border, point of contact, identity, a molting snake. There will be a Brooklyn beard competition, a dance of romance, and a sitcom gone awry. There will be wrestling and zombies. There will be lights, original music, and bodies telling each narrative, weaving them all into a singular evening of activated imagination and a dive into the deep deep

BKBX’s 7th Annual Black & White Ball, A Sparkling Night, was Monday, December 3rd at 6:30pm! We celebrated our community, announce our January show, and brought our 2019 from still to s p a r k l i n g.
Doors opened at Dumbo Loft at 6:30 for live music by celebrated jazz vocalist Eleni Arapoglou accompanied by an open bar, table games, and delicious eats by beloved Chef Frédéric Robert and our friends at The Peninsula. More treats generously provided by Foragers Market and Westville Bakery, with our resident photographer Bjorn Bolinder at his famous photo booth. At 8:00pm our Artistic Director kicked off our BKBX pop-up show, featuring a mix of fan-favorites and new pieces. The mime performance was followed by a no-holds-barred dance party, of course. And surprise balloons, of course, popped and revealed throughout the night as we get closer to $15,000 goal!
We at BKBX believe in the power of simple, joyful, provocative storytelling that ignites imaginations and connects our audiences. It is our true pleasure to re-envision this throwback French medium for contemporary audiences of all backgrounds, and to find our voice (yes!) in today’s artistic and cultural landscape. We strive to run our non-profit the way we run our rehearsal room: with empathy, respect, and generosity.
Not in town or feeling less than social*? Make your tax-deductible donation via our Be There in Spirit Campaign to join the party. We’ll add your support to the overall tally and raise our glasses to y o u on December 3rd!
*Do consider that our beloved introvert tables will provide some high-octane puzzling. We’re talking 1000 pieces, people.
